The Outer Ring Road (ORR) between Silk Board and KR Puram is one of India’s busiest tech corridors, hosting thousands of IT companies, MNCs, and commuters daily. Current traffic conditions are characterized by severe congestion, unsafe pedestrian movement, and inefficient enforcement. Metro rail construction will bring long-term relief but only by 2027+.
This proposal outlines immediate, AI-driven solutions that can be deployed within months to reduce congestion, improve safety, and create a scalable model of smart traffic management.
Reduce travel time and congestion on ORR by 25–40%.
Improve traffic law enforcement without manual dependency.
Enhance pedestrian safety and public transport efficiency.
Establish ORR as a testbed for AI-powered smart city solutions.
1. AI-Powered Traffic Command & Control
Real-time analysis of CCTV, GPS, and sensor data.
Predicts congestion 15–30 minutes in advance.
Dynamically adjusts signal timings to create “green waves.”
2. Automated Traffic Law Enforcement
AI vision + ANPR cameras detect violations: wrong-lane driving, signal jumps, no helmets, overloading.
Instant e-challans via SMS and app.
Transparent, corruption-free enforcement.
3. Dynamic Lane & Bus Bay Management
AI predicts traffic direction → opens contra-lanes via LED boards.
Smart bus bay allocation ensures buses halt only at designated points, preventing blockages.
4. Pedestrian Safety with AI
AI-enabled cameras and voice alerts for jaywalking.
Smart LED crosswalks activate only when safe.
Controlled pedestrian crossing signals to prevent random halts.
5. Drone Surveillance & Incident Response
AI-controlled drones detect accidents, breakdowns, and waterlogging.
Automatic alerts to nearest patrol + Google Maps rerouting.
Faster clearance reduces secondary traffic build-ups.
6. Digital Twin of ORR
Virtual replica of ORR using live data.
Enables scenario testing (lane closures, diversions, flyover impact) before real-world implementation.
Supports emergency response planning and peak-hour traffic forecasting.
7. Wild Card: Traffic Discipline Score
AI generates a “driver discipline score.”
Good driving rewarded with discounts on fuel, tolls, insurance.
Poor driving penalized with higher tolls and priority challans.
Immediate: 25–40% smoother traffic flow within months.
Safety: Significant reduction in accidents and jaywalking incidents.
Efficiency: Faster bus movement, improved productivity for commuters.
Governance: Transparent, automated, and accountable enforcement.
Scalability: Model can be replicated across Bengaluru and other metros.
